Program Design
ATLAS is a two week intensive summer program for high school youth in Grades 10-12
Experiential Learning
ATLAS will feature real satellite hardware and an interactive, hands-on design and build structure
Participants will learn about the process of digital design using virtual circuit builders
Artificial Intelligence
ATLAS will introduce students to concepts of AI and machine learning through interactive curriculum and projects
Intensive Summer Academy
Interested applicants can apply to attend
- On either July 8-19 or July 22-August 2 2024
- Hosted on Dalhousie University’s Sexton Campus
- Grade 10-12 students
- Financial support for travel arrangements
- Accommodations for those travelling from further afield
Build a working satellite
ATLAS features real satellite hardware that students will assemble their own cube satellites and dissect the philosophy and design behind various subsystems
- Soldering hardware
- CNC machining
- Electrical theory of Kirchhoff's law
- Programming Raspberry Pi GPIO pins
Computer modelling techniques
Participants will learn about the digital design process by discovering the unique features of 3D modeling workspaces
- Use modeling software to investigate planar and rotational symmetry
- In a 3D coordinate system create engineering drawings
- Circuit design
Machine Learning and Computational Thinking
Learn fundamentals of AI, and machine learning
